Aerolex is a type lexicon, not a flight simulator and not an aviation intelligence platform. Search a designator, orbit a schematic scaled to published length, span, and height, and read the class the type belongs to. Combat types are public identity only.

Aerolex (aero + lexicon) is a public encyclopedia of aircraft types. You search a designator or a class, orbit an original schematic, read published identity, and compare two types at true scale. The name sits next to AeroFarr on purpose: one is type literacy, the other is aviation intelligence.
The hangar is filed as AI Fieldwork 07 because it is a working instrument the Lab built and will keep. The public chrome is aviation. It is not a model-evaluation report.
Sixteen classes, one catalog.
The 12 August 2026 snapshot holds 265 types in sixteen classes. Airliners: 31 narrowbody, 27 widebody, 17 regional jet, 11 turboprop airliner. General aviation: 34 piston single, 18 piston twin, 18 turboprop, 19 very light and light jet, 13 midsize, 16 large business jet. Helicopters: 14 light, 12 medium, 5 heavy, 3 attack. Combat types, public identity only: 21 fighters, 6 attack jets.
Those labels are a reading aid. They are not a type certificate and not an order of battle. A narrowbody has one passenger aisle. A widebody has two. Attack helicopter and fighter are public role words from open sources.
Two ramps, one code system.
B738 is a 737-800. A20N is an A320neo. C172 is a Skyhawk. GLF6 is a G650. The hangar will put a Skyhawk next to a 737-800 at the real size difference. That is the point of true-scale compare.
US-common is a flag for types you are likely to meet in US airline, training, charter, and business flying. It is not a fleet census. Operator lists, where present, are a 2026 public snapshot and must be re-checked before a page names an airline as current.
Public identity only.
Helicopters are grouped light, medium, heavy, and attack. Rotor diameter is stored as span so a type can sit on the same stage as a fixed-wing airplane. Public configuration is visible: two-blade Robinson trainers, tandem Chinook, fenestron tails, coaxial Ka-32.
Fighters and attack jets show ICAO identity, manufacturer, family, published overall size, and the service named in open sources. The hangar does not model weapons, sensors, signatures, or classified performance. Operators are services, never units. Read the fighter chapter at /aerolex/fighters.
Search, orbit, compare.
Open the experiment. Search a type, ICAO code, maker, or class word. The type list is grouped by class, so a Boeing plus In production filter shows airliners, then helicopters, then fighters, not one mixed pile. Click a row. Drag to orbit, scroll to zoom, click a named part. The Type tab holds identity, dimensions, and a Wikipedia extract when linked. Structure names the parts. Compare puts a second type on the stage.
The encyclopedia essays live on the website at /aerolex, with chapters for airliners, general aviation, helicopters, and fighters. They are not inside the hangar.

A separate static app, paused when you leave.
Aerolex is a prebuilt static app under /ai-lab/experiments/aerolex. Three.js is not in the Next.js bundle. The homepage, Signals, and this report are HTML, images, and text. WebGL starts only when you enter the hangar.
Inside the hangar the loop pauses when the tab is hidden or the canvas is off-screen. Pixel ratio, shadows, and post-processing drop on small or low-memory devices. Catalog JSON is cached at the edge. That is the isolation that keeps zorost.com fast.
Literacy, then aviation intelligence.
Aerolex tells you what a type is. AeroFarr is Zorost's aviation intelligence platform: fused public aviation data, delay and flow, the picture a desk uses. The hangar is not AeroFarr. The footer and this report both send you to aerofarr.com when the question is intelligence, not type identity.

What Held, What We Flag
Wins and limits, side by side- 265 types load from a generated JSON catalog, with search across maker, family, ICAO, class, and public nicknames that do not leak across the wrong class.
- Headline types render as detailed AI-generated PBR models; every other type renders as an original solid schematic. All are scaled to published overall length, span, and height. A Skyhawk beside a 737-800 is the real size difference.
- The hangar is a separate static build. Three.js does not ship in the main website JavaScript.
- The loop pauses when the tab is hidden. Quality drops on small or low-memory devices.
- Generated models are AI-generated from Zorost prompts (no third-party mesh); schematics are original geometry. Neither is a certified drawing or a manufacturer mesh.
- No airline liveries. No FlightGear or Flightradar24 GPLv2 models.
- Fighter and attack types: public identity and published overall size only. No weapons, sensors, signatures, or classified performance.
- Wikipedia extracts are CC BY-SA, not Apache-2.0. They must stay attributed.
- US operator snapshots are a 2026 public reading, not a Cirium extract.
- Aerolex is not AeroFarr. It has no delay metrics and no aviation-intelligence API.
